Today, we showed the first-ever footage of
Hades II running on the upcoming
Nintendo Switch 2
game system, as part of the Nintendo Direct video
showcasing some of the first titles announced for the
console! See it here:
Hades II is also coming to the original Nintendo Switch! We have both versions running
smoothly at a target 60 frames per second, with the Switch
2 version taking advantage of the bigger,
higher-definition 1080p display.
The original Hades v1.0likewise initially launched on the Nintendo Switch, so
we're very excited to bring our latest game to the
console where Hades got its start, as well
as its new-and-improved successor!
When will Hades II v1.0 be available?
We don't yet have a releate date for the full version
of Hades II. The game is currently available in Early Access on
computer platforms, and we have at least one more Major
Update still to come, so our v1.0 launch will be some time
after that. Stay tuned for more details later this year!
Our second Major Update for
Hades II has arrived, featuring all-new
encounters at the end of the surface route, the arrival of
violence-loving Ares, updates to Arcana and resource
collection, and much more!
About the Update
With The Warsong Update, Hades II now
packs these latest additions and improvements:
Are you prepared for the Final Confrontation on
the surface? Discover what lies beyond the Guardian of
Olympus... if you dare!
Meet Ares, the infamous god of war! Gain his
varied and vicious Boons to see if you can
satisfy his thirst for blood.
Meditate at the updated Altar of Ashes,
featuring all-new art and several reworked Arcana
effects! Many other menu screens are also improved.
Bond with a new Animal Familiar, who will help
keep you out of harm's way! See if you can recruit
all five Familiars to your cause.
Why not sing a duet in the Crossroads as you
rest up from a hard night? Look for other new details
and interactions!
Delve deeper into the story, with more than
2,000 new voice lines and new events with most
of the game's cast!
This update also introduces a slew of new music tracks,
many new and improved Boons, streamlined resource
gathering, and more!
How to Get the Update
The Warsong Update is a free, automatic download as
part of the Early Access version of
Hades II on
Steam
and the
Epic Games Store. As always, the complete
Patch Notes
are available on Steam, in the game client, in the form of
a dramatic reading (see below), and in
our official Discord, where you can join a welcoming community of
Hades II players and Supergiant fans.
Development Progress
We're excited to have launched this Major Update,
since it includes numerous ideas we've been eager to
implement since we started working on
Hades II years ago! But we're not
finished yet, and have already made plans for our third
Major Update, which we intend to deliver some months from
now. Note it's still too early to share our plans
beyond that, including when our v1.0 launch will be.
After any follow-up patches to
The Warsong Update that address issues or feedback
in the short term, we'll focus on these major
initiatives:
ยท Hidden Aspects: The Nocturnal Arms still have
some secrets left to be discovered, and new ways for you
to play. We plan for you to be able to wield some of these
next time.
ยท Enhanced Guardians: The boss battles at the end
of each Region are an integral part of the experience, and
we want them to be able to challenge and surprise you even
more.
ยท Expanded Story: As we prepare for our eventual
v1.0 launch, we're planning ahead for the rest of the
story, while building on various character relationships
and subplots.
We appreciate your continued patience and support as we
forge ahead!
Beyond the Final Confrontation!
Early Access continues to be an essential part of
Hades II development, and we hope you can
feel this reflected in our Major Updates and other patches
so far. With the core structure of both the Underworld and
Surface routes now fully intact, we're excited to turn
our attention to filling out more of the game's
content, finishing more and more of what we started...
until we're done! In the meantime, thank you very much
for playing Hades II! You're helping us get closer to achieving our goal
of making our first-ever sequel our biggest, most
replayable game yet, and a worthy successor to the
original Hades with its own surprises and
special touches. For now, we'll be looking forward to
your impressions of The Warsong Update, and hearing
of your adventures above the surface and below!
We're pleased to announce that
Noclip's video documentary series chronicling how we
created the original Hades is
now available on Blu-ray! Presented in a new directorโs cut of the original six
episodes, this special region-free physical edition
includes a booklet about the project, as well as a
reversible front jacket designed by our artist Josh
Barnett plus a bonus sticker illustrated by Nina
Matsumoto.
Get the Blu-ray only at Fangamer!
About 'Developing Hell'
The original Hades was our first-ever Early
Access game, meaning we developed it while taking feedback
from our player community. As part of that, we invited the
team at Noclip to film our progress and reveal how
development was going. The result was a
one-of-a-kind video documentary series
that takes you inside our studio for every step of our
gameโs journey: from before its surprise announcement in
2018, to its full launch almost two years later, and
beyond as the game grew into a worldwide phenomenon. If
you want to know how Hades came to be, or
what a day in the life of our team at Supergiant is like,
this is the best way to find out!
About Noclip
Noclip is a small team making crowdfunded video game
documentaries for everyone to enjoy, and whose mission is
to tell authentic stories about video games, the people
who make them, and those who play them. Their work is
funded by a
community of Patrons
and free of sponsored content. As crowdfunding is what
made Developing Hell possible to begin with,
proceeds from this new Blu-ray release go to Noclip so
that they can keep shining a light on how games are made.
From all of us at Supergiant Games, we wish you a happy
holiday season and all the best in the coming year! Thank
you for all your support of our team, and our latest work
on Hades II.
The year gone by has been very exciting for our team. In
May,
we launched our first-ever sequel in Early Access
on Steam and the Epic Games Store, an event that proved
even bigger than the v1.0 launch of the original game!
Since then, we've patched Hades II half
a dozen times, including
the first of our Major Updates, which brought the game a big step closer to completion.
More recently, Hades II earned two
nominations in the
Steam Awards, in the categories of Best Game on Steam Deck and
Outstanding Visual Style! It would really mean a
lot to us to have your vote(s).
Our Fifteenth Anniversary!
Back in September, our studio turned 15 years old! From
Bastion, to Transistor, to Pyre, to
the original Hades, and now to
Hades II, all our games have found an audience on a variety of PC
and console platforms, and not a day goes by that
we're not grateful for it. We even hear from some of
you who've been with us from the very start.
In some respects, not too much has changed in all that
time... our team remains independent, and all seven of the
people who created our first game are still working
together in their respective roles, though our team now
has close to 25 members in total. We remain staunchly
committed to making games that spark your imagination like
the games you played as a kid. If you've been playing
for a while, then you know good interesting games never go
out of style; we want to keep trying to make them for as
long as we can.
Our Next Major Update
We're now closing in on the launch of our
second Major Update for Hades II, slated for early 2025. At that point you'll get to
experience the final confrontation of the game's
alternate route! Beyond that, we're planning for at
least one more Major Update in Early Access sometime this
coming year, which will expand on various parts of the
game including the story. But the story's true ending
will only arrive with the v1.0 launch, which we still
don't have a date for yet... it'll depend on how
our Major Updates go!
With all this on our minds, we're filled with
gratitude and excitement as we head into the new year, and
we hope you'll join us in the next one. Until then,
may moonlight guide you out there!
Our first Major Update for
Hades II is finally here, featuring
spectacular new places to explore, colorful new characters
to meet, a wild new weapon to master, and much, much more!
Take a peek:

following new features:

colorful cast!
This update also adds
native support for Mac systems with Apple M1 or
later, numerous quality-of-life improvements, plenty of new
art and audio, and other little surprises we're
excited for you to find!
How to Get the Update
The Olympic Update is a free, automatic download as
part of the Early Access version of
Hades II on
Steam
and the
Epic Games Store. The complete
Patch Notes
are available on Steam, in the game client, in the form of
a dramatic reading (see below), and in
our official Discord, where you can join a welcoming community of
Hades II players and Supergiant fans.
Development Progress
Our first Major Update introduces a third Region and
Guardian to the Surface Route, bringing it closer to the
Underworld route's level of completion. We've also
added the game's sixth and final main weapon, and
iterated on a number of key systems. But there's
plenty more to come, and we can safely say that our
next Major Update in Early Access will
not be our last!
Once we're sure The Olympic Update has
stabilized and we've addressed major feedback as much
as possible, we'll then focus on these major
initiatives:
ยท Climactic Confrontation: What awaits further
beyond the newly-added Region? Once we add that, we will
consider the main structure of the Surface Route to be
complete.
ยท New Boons: Boons are integral to the experience
of Hades II, so we have some more additions planned on this front.
The Olympians deserve no less!
ยท New Foes: We plan to add even more combat
encounter variety. Having lots of exciting and varied
encounters helps keep Hades II feeling
fresh.
We are planning our next Major Update to launch sometime
in early 2025, in a little less development time overall
than The Olympic Update. We appreciate your
patience and understanding as we press on!
Onward and Upward!
Early Access has already been an invaluable and
eye-opening experience for our team as we continue working
to complete this game. As we move forward, we intend to
keep making additions, changes, and improvements in an
effort to create the biggest, most replayable, most
feature-rich game we've made yet, and โ most
importantly โ a worthy successor to the original
Hades. We're very grateful that you've taken the time
to play Hades II thus far, and hope you find
it's getting closer to fulfilling its potential with
the launch of The Olympic Update. Your feedback is
always welcome, and thank you for playing.
After more than three years in development, our first-ever
sequel is now available in Early Access on
Steam
and the
Epic Games Store!! Watch our new gameplay showcase to see it in action.
Note: This contains some spoilers!
We hope you enjoy discovering all that
Hades II in Early Access has to offer! It
already includes more environments, foes, and fully-voiced
characters than the full version of the original game, and
we have more in the works. An in-game development roadmap
provides additional details about our update plans.
For owners of Steam Deck, Valve's portable gaming
computer, we're pleased to report
Hades II is
Deck Verified!
About Hades II
Hades II is a rogue-like dungeon crawler in
which you'll battle beyond the Underworld of Greek
myth using dark sorcery to take on the sinister Titan of
Time. It builds on the best aspects of the award-winning
original in an all-new, action-packed, endlessly
replayable experience rooted in Greek myth and its deep
connections to the dawn of witchcraft.
As the immortal Princess of the Underworld, you'll
explore a bigger, deeper mythic world, vanquishing the
Titan's forces with the full might of Olympus behind
you, in a sweeping story that continually unfolds through
your every setback and accomplishment. New locations,
challenges, upgrade systems, and surprises await as you
delve into the ever-shifting Underworld again and again.
For more information, check our
Hades II FAQ.
About Early Access
This Early Access launch is an extraordinarily exciting
moment for our team as we begin the process that we expect
will help us realize this game's potential. As with
the original, we designed Hades II for Early
Access from the ground up, and look forward to hearing
your feedback about all that we've built so far, and
integrating that feedback into our plans for the rest of
production! This is a game with many interconnected parts,
and your feedback helps us ensure everything from the
balance to the narrative are working as well as possible.
Should you play in Early Access, or wait for the full
game? For many players, it's a good idea to wait for
the complete v1.0 before diving in, as
Hades II will grow and improve during Early
Access, and the true ending of the story won't be
available until then. But, if you like the idea of
seeing the game evolve over time, and watching the story
unfold more gradually, then Early Access is probably for
you!
You may also want to hold out for the v1.0 launch
depending on which platform you'd like to play on, as
Early Access is only on Steam and the Epic Games Store. We
expect Hades II to eventually be available
for PC, Mac, and console platforms (though cannot confirm
which platforms yet).
The Hades II Original Soundtrack
Music has always been essential to the experience of each
title from Supergiant Games, and Hades II is
no exception, with an original soundtrack by our
award-winning composer Darren Korb crafted to fit the
bewitching theme and variety of all-new characters and
environments.
Now available alongside the game (and for free streaming
on
our YouTube channel!), the soundtrack is already nearly as expansive as the
original, with close to two-and-a-half hours of new
music... and still more tracks to be added as development
continues. Note: We recommend first
experiencing our soundtracks in-game prior to listening on
their own!
What's Next
We're planning our first Major Update for later this
year! Please note while we'll be monitoring feedback
and reports carefully, this Major Update will take some
months following our initial launch. Beyond that, we
expect to be in Early Access at least through the end of
2024 in order to build out the remaining content we have
planned.
As we take stock of the state of the game and what you
think of it, we'll gain a clearer sense of just how
close we are to the finish line. For now, it's too
early to say when our v1.0 launch will be. Yet even though
Hades II won't be complete for some
time, we hope you really enjoy it as soon as you start
playing.
Lastly: Thank you. This year our studio turns 15 years
old, and for all this time we've remained small and
independent, working on one major new project after
another. None of this would have been possible without the
support of our players over the years. So, whether
Hades II is your first Supergiant game, or
you've been with us since the
Bastion days, we're grateful you could
join us.
Update, April 26: Thank you very much for your
patience as we conducted the
Hades II Technical Test. The Test helped us identify and address a number of key
technical issues we weren't able to find before, in
preparation to launch Hades II in Early
Access. We plan to start winding down the Technical Test
on Monday, April 29, after which point it will no longer
be available in participants' Steam libraries.
However, we plan to launch Hades II in Early
Access relatively soon after that, so please stay tuned!
We hope you share our excitement for Early Access, and
really appreciate your support and encouragement during
the Technical Test!
We're getting close to launching
Hades II in Early Access! As noted in our
latest
Development Update, a key step prior to that is our
Hades II Technical Test, which we plan to begin shortly.
About the Hades II Technical Test
We're conducting the
Hades II Technical Test prior to our Early
Access launch to help us find and solve any technical
issues we might have missed thus far, to ensure anyone who
tries Hades II in Early Access can have a
smooth play experience from the start. The Technical Test
contains much less content than what's in store for
the Early Access launch, and may be available only to a
relatively small subset of players who express interest in
participating.
How to Sign Up
We are using Steam Playtest to run the
Hades II Technical Test. If you'd like to be considered for participation,
you can sign up right now simply by heading to the
Hades II Steam page, and clicking the button marked 'Request Access'.
If you're a content creator, you may also request a
key using
Keymailer, though please note that due to the nature of the
Technical Test, we may not be able to honor all such
requests.
Who Gets to Participate
A subset of players who request access will be invited to
participate via an email from Steam with download
instructions. We expect to start with a small player
population, then grow it over time. So, even if you
aren't invited to the Technical Test right away, you
may still be invited later. Our process boils down to:
invite some players, fix any problems they run into,
invite more players, and so on.
Once we're sufficiently confident that things are
stable, we'll wind down the Technical Test, then
launch in Early Access on Steam and the Epic Games Store
relatively soon after. As the purpose of the Technical
Test is to test the game with a relatively small audience,
we may not be able to honor individual requests to
participate. We will do our best to conduct the Technical
Test as expeditiously as possible, then launch in Early
Access, at which point the game will be available for
anyone to purchase and play.
Technical Test Duration
The nature of the Test is such that we don't know
exactly how long it will last, though our estimate is
longer than a week, shorter than a month. We
likewise don't know exactly when we will launch
Hades II in Early Access, since that will
depend on how long we end up having to run the Technical
Test for.
Technical Test System Requirements
Here are the minimum system requirements for the Technical
Test:
OS: Windows 10 64-bit (or Steam Deck)
Processor: Dual Core 2.4 Ghz Memory: 8GB RAM
Graphics: GeForce GTX 950, Radeon R7 360, or Intel
HD Graphics 630
Technical Test Contents
The Technical Test contains the first major area of the
game, and other early-game characters, systems, and
content. (If you played the original game, imagine a
version where you couldn't get past Tartarus even if
you vanquished its guardian.) If you end up clearing the
first major area a number of times, the game will gently
suggest that you discontinue play, as Early Access
shouldn't be far behind!
Note that due to structural differences with the Early
Access version of the game, save data from the Technical
Test will not transfer.
How Technical Test Participants Can Help
Just play! If you encounter crashes or other technical
issues, the game will provide instruction on how to report
those to us.
Closing Remarks
Thank you for your interest in Hades II and
this Technical Test! It's important to us to start our
forthcoming Early Access with as few technical issues as
possible, so that the focus can be on getting your
feedback on the game itself. We're very excited to
share that game with you soon, and appreciate your
patience and support as we prepare!

of technical constraints, automatic save transfers (i.e.,
cross-saves) with any prior versions of
Hades are not supported.

No, same as other versions of the game. The exception is
that a Netflix subscription is required, and if you
don't have one, you will be prompted.
Is Hades also coming to Android devices?
We appreciate the interest though we have no plans for
additional versions of Hades at this time.
What's next for Supergiant Games?
Together with our development partners at
Secret 6, we've
been working on Hades for iOS for more than
a year, on top of the several years it took us to create
the original versions. Our other major project is
Hades II, which we are readying for an Early Access launch in Q2.
This year marks our small independent studio's 15th
anniversary, and we're very excited to keep moving
forward, making games together!
For more information about Hades and
Supergiant Games, have a look at our
Hades FAQ!
Back when we first revealed
Hades IIat The Game Awards in 2022, we said to
expect more information on our plans for Early Access
sometime in 2023. It's time we shed some light on
those plans!
Early Access Starts Next Year
We now can confirm we're planning for
Hades II to launch in Early Access in Q2
2024 on Steam and the Epic Games Store. We'll have
more details on the exact date, pricing, and system
requirements closer to that time.
Thank you for your patience as we gear up for this launch!
You may be wondering, why can't we launch in Early
Access, like, right now?! The game looked pretty
far along in the first trailer! The reason is,
Hades II will have at least as much content
from day one in Early Access as the original game did back
when it launched in Early Access on Steam. And, even
though Early Access inherently means a game is not yet
complete, we still want to do everything we can to make
sure Hades II is worth your while as soon as
you can play it in any capacity.
Also in Q2 2024, shortly before we launch in Early Access,
we're going to run a technical test with a limited
sample of players. The purpose of this test will be to
find and solve any technical or compatibility issues we
might have missed, to ensure anyone who tries
Hades II in Early Access can have a smooth
play experience. To that end, this technical test will
contain much less content than what's in store for the
Early Access launch, and likely be limited only to a
relatively small subset of players who express interest in
participating. We'll announce more details about the
Hades II Technical Test closer to when
it's ready.
More About Early Access & Beyond
Early Access was vitally important to the entire idea
behind the original Hades -- we decided it
would be an Early Access game before deciding literally
anything else about it, such as the Underworld setting.
We've approached development of
Hades II knowing Early Access will be no
less important this time, though now knowing a bit more of
what to expect from Early Access development, as well as
more about what a Hades game needs to be. We
believe the timeframe we're planning for will be the
"sweet spot" where the game is far enough along
that player feedback won't mostly consist of stuff we
already know isn't there yet, but isn't so far
along that it's too late in development for us to act
on the feedback we receive.
Similar to how we approached Early Access with the
original, following our Hades II Early
Access launch, we'll have several Major Updates adding
the rest of the game's core content and refining
what's there based on player feedback. The story will
expand with each update, as we introduce more characters,
and deepen relationships with existing ones. This process
will culminate in our v1.0 launch, which will feature the
conclusion to the story and any other finishing touches.
We don't yet know exactly how long it will take us to
get to v1.0 of Hades II, as our experience developing in Early Access has taught
us (among many things) to expect the unexpected. For now,
our focus is to keep building core content --
environments, characters, weapons, Boons, story events,
music, and more -- as we gear up for our Technical Test
and Early Access launch in Q2 this coming year. Thank you
again for your patience and support as we work to ensure
our first sequel meets our standards, and hopefully yours,
too!
Note: For all the latest details we can
share about Hades II, please check our
Hades II FAQ.

When can I play Hades on iOS?
Hades on iOS will be available sometime in
2024. We'll have more details closer to launch.
What's Netflix Games?
We all know Netflix as a premier streaming video service.
On top of that, your standard subscription also includes a
variety of excellent games you can download and play
right now on compatible devices, at no additional
charge! We were drawn to the opportunity to introduce
Netflix's audience to our game, and look forward to
hearing from our players there.
How can I play Hades on iOS once it's
available?
All you need is a compatible iOS device and a standard
subscription to Netflix! While signed in to the Netflix
app on your device, simply navigate to the games row and
look for Hades there! Then you can download
the game and play all you like.
Hades should run great on an iPhone or iPad
running iOS 16 or later. We will have the full

separately?
Hades for iOS will be available exclusively
through Netflix Games for the foreseeable future.
What control settings are in Hades on iOS?
Hadeson iOS features fully customizable touch controls
designed for this version of the game. You can also
wirelessly connect a Bluetooth controller to your device
for more of a console-style experience!
Who is the developer of Hades on iOS?
We have been closely collaborating with the talented team
at Secret 6 on this
version of the game!
Does Hades on iOS support Cloud Saves and
Achievements?
Yes and yes. Please note, however, that due to a variety
of technical constraints, automatic save transfers (i.e.,
cross-saves) with any existing version of
Hadesare not supported.
Is Hades also coming to Android devices?
We appreciate the interest though we have no plans for
additional versions of Hades at this time.
Having brought our prior titles Bastion and
Transistor to iOS devices, we're excited
that Hades will be joining them there soon!
